We have been delighted to integrate the work of Anne Sassoon into the project as a major contemporary artist of Sephardi heritage whose brilliant and disturbing paintings are a major contribution to the arts. Across the One Lost Stone section of this website, a gallery of Sassoon’s paintings celebrates the vast output of an original Sephardi artist whose images hint at the elements we unearth in Discovering and Documenting England’s Lost Jews: loss, marginalisation, secrecy, duality, performance, protest, joie de vivre and survival.
