Oliver Cromwell received a petition from Rabbi Menasseh Ben Israel asking for permission for Jews to return to England.

Was the petition successful?

No. Many did not want the Jews to return. Others made the point that the expulsion of the Jews was spoken by the king and not written down by Parliament and there was no law to stop Jews returning to England.
